World’s Second-Largest Lighting Fair Opens
27 October 2013 – The 15th HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) opened today with a record 2,360 exhibitors from 38 countries and regions participating. The four-day fair continues through 30 October at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). New exhibitors from Denmark, Israel, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates are taking part this year.
Bright Lights
Fair highlights include the fair’s Hall of Aurora, featuring more than 470 lighting brands from some 340 exhibitors, including: Fulham, Fumagalli, Neo-Neon, Panasonic, Philips, Seoul Semiconductor and Vossloh-Schwabe.
Other featured zones include: LED & Green Lighting, with about 820 exhibitors on hand; Advertising Lighting, presenting display panels, light boxes and neon signs; Smart Lighting & Solutions, offering lighting design service and software, along with lighting management systems and control panels; and the Small-Order Zone, with nearly 140 exhibitors displaying some 1,500 products.
Product Competition
“My Favourite Lighting Products Award 2013” debuts at the fair, showcasing innovative lighting offerings as chosen by fair buyers. Results will be announced at the Award Presentation Ceremony this evening. The winning pieces will be showcased at the Hall 1A concourse throughout the fair period.
Industry Intelligence
A full slate of timely seminars is taking place during the four-day fair, beginning with this afternoon’s “Lighting Market Across the Globe” session. Other seminars include tomorrow morning’s “LED Lighting Regulations and Standards,” the “E-tailing Strategy for Lighting Products” seminar, 29 October, and the “Hong Kong Quality LED” seminar, which takes place on 30 October.
A Buyer Forum, “Business Opportunity in Global Markets,” is among tomorrow afternoon’s highlights, with buyers from Chile, the Middle East and Russia participating.
Exports Rising
Hong Kong’s lighting product exports in the first nine months of 2013 were up 23 per cent, year-on-year, to HK$8.4 billion (US$1.1 billion). Hong Kong’s top five export markets for lighting were the Chinese mainland, the United States, Japan, Germany and France.
Concurrent Events
Three other major fairs are also taking place this coming week: the HKTDC Hong Kong International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair (28-30 October); Eco Expo Asia (28-31 October); and the HKTDC Sports Source Asia (29-31 October). They’re on at AsiaWorld-Expo.
A shuttle bus service will run between the HKCEC and AsiaWorld-Expo during the fairs.
